What is stored when you sign the book

The name you give, your home town if you wish to give it, your text, mood and weather, the time, the language in which you used the summit book and — if you upload one — your photo. This information appears publicly on this site. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, which you give by submitting your entry.

You decide for yourself which name to enter — a first name or nickname is enough.

Your entry stays in the language in which you wrote it. It is not translated, not even automatically.

Photos

Images are reduced in size in your browser before they are sent. In the process, all additional information is removed from the file, in particular the GPS coordinates of where the picture was taken. If other people can be seen in your photo, please upload it only if they agree.

Technically necessary data

To prevent misuse, your IP address is not stored in plain text but only as a check value that cannot be traced back, using a key that changes daily; after seven days this value is deleted as well.

Your behaviour is not analysed, and no tracking pixels or advertising networks are used. The summit book does not set any cookies.

What is kept in your browser’s storage

So that the summit book works the way you expect, it keeps a few details in your browser’s storage (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG):

These details stay on your device and are not passed on to third parties. You can remove them by deleting the website data for this site in your browser.

Hosting

The summit book is kept on the same web space as hochsteinbaude.de, operated by Hostinger International Ltd., 61 Lordou Vironos Street, 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus. When the site is accessed, the server automatically stores what your browser transmits: IP address, time, address accessed, browser type and operating system. This is technically necessary in order to deliver the site and to ensure its security (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the host. You will find more details in the privacy policy of the website.

For how long

Entries in the summit book are meant to last — that is the purpose of a summit book. Within 24 hours you can withdraw your entry yourself on the same device. After that, an informal email is enough and we will remove it.

Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection under Art. 15 to 21 GDPR, and also the right to lodge a complaint with the Saxon Data Protection Commissioner (Sächsische Datenschutz- und Transparenzbeauftragte). An email to the address given above is enough.
